Delmenhorst's traditional Kramermarkt is a fun-fair with 120 rides and attractions that is held twice a year. In spring and autumn the meadows of the Graftanlagen invite all and sundry to enjoy the nostalgic merry-go-rounds and exciting high-tech rides, ride on a pony or try their like at the shooting galleries. The fair has its very own unique setting, created by the procession through the city centre at the beginning and the firework display at the end. |

Sparkling chrome, shining paintwork and humming engines means it's AutoFrühling (Car Spring) in Delmenhorst. In May the city turns into a huge open-air car show, presenting the latest cars, motorhomes and motorbikes. Technical freaks can find all the latest information about newly developed automotive technologies and accessories at first hand, while nostalgics look forward to the classic car meeting that is an integral part of the AutoFrühling. After all, this is Delmenhorst, which offers more than just a car show for the AutoFrühling: the city sways and rocks to the sound of the bands processing through its streets, shops are open on Sunday for visitors to stroll around and take a look, cafés and booths tempt passers-by with mouth-watering delicacies, and shows and exhibitions for home and garden herald the start of the summer season. |

For more than 15 years, the Exhibition held in Spring has drawn in suppliers and providers from the whole Metropolitan Region Bremen-Oldenburg-Delmenhorst. Every year it gives companies and experts an opportunity to present their latest products, attracting nearly 20,000 visitors who come to find out all there is to know, to make contacts and discover future trends. The programme is rounded off by a great many hands-on features. |

Potatoes are at the heart of the Potato Festival which meanwhile attracts more than 50,000 fans from way beyond the city's borders. Around 120 booths spread out throughout the city centre present visitors with culinary delights, wooden toys, floristry and arts and crafts. Broom makers, basket weavers and wooden shoe carvers can be watched at work, while the wonderful smell of fried and roast potatoes fills the air. The festival for the versatile vegetable is appropriately accompanied by folk dancing together with folk and country singers. |

Seasonal advent lighting, lovingly decorated, cosy wooden stalls, Christmas carols – that is Christmas market in Delmenhorst. The scent of cinnamon, aniseed and roasted almonds temptingly pervades the glowing streets, while the bright lights of the merry-go-round are reflected in the shining eyes of the children. Delmenhorst's Christmas market begins four weeks before Christmas Eve, entertaining both young and old in the long wait for Christmas itself.
The festival of light is inseparably linked with the Christmas market, turning the Town Hall into an elves' workshop once a year: selected hobby artists and artisans offer unusually and beautifully worked presents to go under the tree, with a different focus chosen each year. Splendidly decorated Christmas trees, splendid tinsel angels and the glow of countless lights create a magical atmosphere in which visitors gladly get in the mood for this special time of year. Once a year, Delmenhorst acquires world flair: when artists of international renown improvise on their saxophones and the whole city swings and dances in rhythm, then it's jazz festival time in Delmenhorst. For 20 years now, renowned musicians from all over the world have been coming to North Germany to set the air vibrating. Time and again, the Culture Office team manages to acquire the services of first-class artists, turning the Kleines Haus theatre into a jazz stage.
