Heritage railway: Full steam ahead out to the countryside |
|
Pure nostalgia, combined with romantic, rural idyll – that is the Jan Harpstedt, the historical narrow-gauge railway with cult status. From Harpstedt via Delmenhorst to Lemwerder, the old steam locomotive pulls its historic carriages at a gentle pace through the rural villages, past woods and lovingly restored mills, cosy country inns and tiny stations. Although picking the flowers is not permitted en route, passengers may disembark at each of the 14 little stations which act as ideal starting points for charming walks and cycling tours in the Wildeshauser Geest natural park and in the Weser marches.
Special events, group offers and seasonal programmes make every journey with Jan Harpstedt a special adventure at every time of year.
