Delmenhorst is a city of short distances – also to get out into the countryside. On foot, by bike or on horseback, you'll soon be surrounded by meadows, fields and little streams. It's definitely worth making a trip out to the suburb of Hasbergen with its windmill and mill museum, or to Hude with the carefully restored quarter around the ruined monastery. To the South West you'll find the Wildeshauser Geest with its gentle hills and old forests, while in the North East the Weser marshes with their vast expanses extend as far as the eye can see.
